2. Comment on forums and blogs

If you find any useful information on the web relating to your niche, always leave a feedback along with your website if possible because feedbacks are important to website owners. Remember to give insightful comments relating to their site's topic because you never who will be reading your comments. People will visit your link if they find your comments knowledgeable and useful.

3. Submit articles to article directories

This by far is the most effective and efficient way to gain quality visitors to your website. People browse through article directories for specific ideas and knowledge. Remember to include effective string of keywords in your title regarding your article. The how to, top ten, best words are generally great for attracting new readers. Submitting your articles to top article directories also helps your site gain an incredible amount of credibility. Without credibility, a site is to be deemed worthless.

4. Search engine optimization(SEO)

SEO is required for anyone who desires to receive massive amount of traffic to their site. This process is a combination of keyword selection, site description relevancy, and the structuring of keywords on the webpage. Depending how well your site is optimized, search engines can either help or punish your site's ranking in the search results.

Paid online marketing

These forms of marketing can be costly but your site will obtain results faster than the free marketing techniques.

1. Pay-per-click(PPC)

As the name suggests, the advertisers pay a fee for every visitor who clicks on their ads. These ads are generally placed next to search listing pages on search engines to help advertisers gain targeted traffic. Every search engine charges a different fee for different keywords that the advertisers wish to use. The more popular the keywords, the more expensive it'll cost to use.

2. Cost-per-view(CPV) or Pay-per-view(PPV)

These are the ads that you get when a pop up or pop under shows up on your computer when browsing the internet. As far as fees go, these ads charge per impression.

3. Media buying

When people mention media buying, they're talking about purchasing a banner ad space on a desired webpage. This technique has a low profit margin as opposed to PPV or PPC. You may have to spend $500 on advertising to make $700. It is not recommended for small website owners.

For beginners, it makes sense to start with free online marketing options. Try to master the art of search engine optimization before paying for advertisements.
